DREAM's Social Studies curriculum aims to help students to make sense of their world, appreciate different cultures and better understand themselves, their environment and their community. We study topics such as current events and geography, and participate in service-learning projects and multi-cultural education. Classes engage in two ‘studies’ each year, with the goal of students attaining a long-lasting and deeper understanding of social, political, historical and economic themes.
Classes take regular field trips to sites in the community and throughout the tri-state area to better understand local industries and resources. Field trips help students experience real world examples of their studies in the classroom.
